:: System Architecture

The EU-FIRE System consists in:

• One Optoelectronic Piloting Unit (OPU),
• One or more Fibre Optic Sensors Networks (FOSN),
• A Volumetric Acoustic System (VAS), consisting of one Signal Processing Unit (SPU) and one or more Microphone Arrays (MA),
• A Local Supervisor (LS).

The FOSN collect temperature and gas concentrations information in the area where they are displaced. Data are acquired through the OPU and sent to the LS, where are stored and where can be accessed by users. The LS collects also data from pre-existing terrestrial stations (i.e. visual cameras and meteorological stations). The VAS aim is to perform a continuous volumetric scanning to detect fire noise. Once a fire has been detected, an alert is sent to the LS and data are collected. The OPU and LS will be integrated in a single rack mount cabinet, the Local Control Unit.
